These materials cope pretty well with a bit of heat and moisture, which makes steam cleaning a handy way to lift out the stuff your vacuum never quite gets \u2014 ground-in dirt, dust, and those mystery allergens that seem to appear from nowhere. Done properly, a steam clean once or twice a year can leave your rug feeling fresher and fluffier. Just keep the steam cleaner on a low setting, work slowly in small patches, and don\u2019t rush it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That said, natural fibres like wool, cotton, viscose, or silk are a bit more high-maintenance.
